A white Thai skating elephant was granted a temporary visa to come skate in a famous American rollerskating event called the Athens to Atlanta Road Skate. We're happy to report that skating in Thailand made this elephant so strong that he was invincible in the 87 mile distance and crossed the finish line four minutes ahead of his nearest competitor!
Imagine the relief of getting a Thai massage after a day of skating. Here is where your aching muscles will get their treatment at the Khlong Tom Lai Resort. Our staff will put you at ease in this clean, soothing space made especially for you, the farang skater. Get the kinks worked out and feel like new with the traditional blend of stretching and manual therapy that is guaranteed to make you say "mmmm." It's official: skating in Thailand and regular Thai massage was a big part of my snatching the 2010 New York 100K from an elite international field. For days on end in Thailand I was able to wake up refreshed, put in a 3-4 hour skate and then get a massage that made me feel brand new. After the race, when I was still hanging out with my skates on, Italian World Champion Luca Presti came up and asked about Thailand. His eyes lighted up when I told him how great it was and he suggested taking his team there for a training camp! Come early and get a leg up on the Italians for next year! Did you know that you skate on the left side of the road in Thailand? It's not that hard to get used to and starts feeling normal quite soon. Remember to look right first, then left when entering a road! Slower moving stuff stays left and faster traffic passes on the right. Once you really get out into the hinterland, you really just get the whole road to yourself. Skating is so uncommon that most locals will likely slow down and sightsee as you skate along! |
